Catch 22 is a novel written by the American author, Joseph Heller. Catch 22 is a satirical work. The novel was first published in 1961 after eight years of writing. Set during World War II in 1943, it is frequently cited as one of the great American literary works of the 20th century. Catch 22 uses a characteristic non-linear third person narration. The narrator describes events from different points of view. The plot develops along an out of sequence time line.
